Timber Sleeper Retaining Walls
Let MRM Landscaping add the beautiful natural look of a timber sleeper retaining wall to add depth and strength to your garden.
Timber sleeper retaining walls are a cost effective retaining wall solution.
The two most common timber types are:
1. Untreated hardwoods such as Spotted Gum and Red Gum, or
2. Treated Pine.
A very common question is… “What is the durability / life expectancy of timber types ?”
Hardwood Retaining Walls constructed have a durability rating of 2, thus when in the ground they have a probable life expectancy between 15 – 25 years depending on soil type and their exposure to the elements.
Treated Pine Retaining Walls are a softwood and must be treated to make them durable. Australian Standards recommend H5 treated timber for retaining walls and h4 treated timber for landscaping. Treated timber can last anywhere from 20 years depending on the quality of the product and its environment.
Timber retaining walls can be constructed with timber uprights or galvanised steel uprights. Even though a more expensive option galvanised steel uprights can be engineered to retain greater weight and will outlast timber uprights.
MRM landscaping can manage the entire retaining wall project. No job is too big or small. We not only design and construct quality retaining walls, we also offer an excavation service, soil removal and the location of underground services to ensure minimal disruption.
